Privacy and Security Forum

October 3, 2018

A Privacy and Security Forum was held in Washington, D.C. on October 3rd, 4th and 5th organized by HB Conferences Litigation.

Nancy Cleman was part of a panel composed of experts who explored the practical consequences of Canadian privacy law for global companies. They also examined best practices for doing business in Canada in light of the existing privacy and security landscape.

Privacy law in Canada is highly dynamic. It is also extremely important to American companies due to the significant amount of trade between the two countries. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner is in the process of defining the bounds of a Canadian Right to be Forgotten. CASL penalties are a reality. Jurisdictional issues are complex.
